東京2020高校生英語スピーチコンテスト / Tokyo 2020 English Speech Contest

12月22日、2020年東京五輪・パラリンピック組織委員会主催の高校生英語スピーチコンテストの最終審査会が開かれました。最終審査会には全国の応募から選ばれた上位10人が参加しましたが、その中で本校高等部2年生の山田麻心さんが、最高賞に次ぐEF特別優秀賞に選ばれました。

「スポーツの力と平和」をテーマにしたこのスピーチコンテストで、山田さんは、過去にフィリピンをボランティアで訪れた際に地元の子ども達とバスケットボールをした経験などを紹介し、勝ち負けを超越したスポーツの意義や平和への思いを力説しました。

On December 22nd, 2019, The Organising Committee of the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games held an English speech contest. 10 students who had been qualified for the final round from all over Japan participated in this contest, and G11 Mako Yamada received EF Special Award, which is next award to the championship.

The theme of the contest was “The power of sports and peace”. Mako spoke about her own experience of playing basketball with local children in the Philippines when she visited there as a volunteer and expressed her opinion about the significance of sports beyond winning or losing.
