春のチューリップ運動は、GKA開校時から続く活動です。１２月には毎年チューリップの球根を持ってきてもらい、クラス毎に花壇に植えます。数千本ものチューリップが土の下で春を待つこととなります。そして３月末には力いっぱいに咲き始め、新年度に登校してくる子どもたちを迎えてくれます。

もちろん季節の花というものは、ずっと咲き続けることはできません。もう数週間ですべての花びらは散り、球根も次年度用に保管されることとなります。その後は、子どもたちが生活科で数種類の野菜の種を植え、異なる植物の生長を観察していくサイクルに入ります。もうすぐではありますが、最後までしっかりと咲き誇るチューリップの様子を楽しみましょう！

Spring tulips are a long tradition at GKA. Every year in December, GKA students bring in tulip bulbs and plant them in the winter soil.  Thousands of tulips rest below the ground and wait for the warmth of spring.  Then, March comes and thousands of tulips pop up to greet the students for the new school year.

Unfortunately, seasonal flowers don’t bloom forever, and in a few more weeks it will be time to clean up the fallen petals and take out the tulip bulbs for the year.  But before long, students in Life Studies class will have new vegetables in the soil and the yearly growing cycle will continue.  Let’s enjoy the final days of our beautiful tulip garden!
