Grade 1: Traffic Safety Instruction 1学年交通安全教室　

We had a police officer visit our school to conduct a traffic safety lesson for first graders.  Students walked along a “road” drawn on the school yard to learn how to walk safely.

They also learned it is important for children to check both sides of the road before crossing because their field of vision is still undeveloped and narrower than that of adults. Additionally, they learned they should raise their hand to make themselves more visible to drivers.

First grade students, let’s all practice what we have learned and stay safe.

警察官をお招きし、1学年児童に対して交通安全教室を行いました。校庭に描かれた道路を歩き、安全な歩き方を学びました。

横断前に左右を確認するのは子どもの視野が未発達で大人よりも狭いからであるということや、手をあげることで、車の運転手から視認されやすくなるためであるという目的なども教えていただき、勉強になりました。

1年生の皆さん、学習したことをしっかりと実践し、安全に過ごしましょう。
