6年生：ブリテッシュヒルズへの語学研修　6th Graders: Study Trip to British Hills

6年生は語学研修のため福島県のブリテッシュヒルズを訪れました。
事前に学校でイギリス文化について学習していた子ども達は、ブリティッシュヒルズの建物が見え始めると、「福島のイギリスだね！」と興奮していました。
英語でのチェックインと館内ツアーが終わると、さっそく授業が始まりました。
ホテルや教室で使える英会話中心の授業だったので、馴染みがあり、分かりやすかったようです。
夕食は、食事のマナーを学習した後、大きなホールで並んでコース料理をとりました。
最初は、緊張から食事を味わうことが出来なかったようですが徐々に笑顔が見え始めました。

二日目の授業では、敷地内のハイキングコースを散策しながら植物を探したり、
豪華な建物内を巡ってシャーロックホームズのように謎を解いたりと、
いつもとはちょっと違う学習を楽しむことができたようでした。
一日中、ずっと授業でしたので、疲れを見せるかと思って心配していたのですが、
「GKAの外で英語を使うのが楽しい。初めて会った人にも英語が通じるのが楽しい。」
と自信をつけ、いつもよりお喋りになっていた子もいたほどでした。

The grade 6 students went to British Hills in Fukushima.

They had learnt about British culture in school, so were excited to see the English-styled buildings on the street and said ” There is a U.K. in Fukushima!”
After checking in and a manor house tour in English, the students started their first British Hills lesson.

It was a role-play of the conversations which will be used in the classes and in the British Hills hotel, the expressions were already familiar to the students.

They felt it was easy to understand and they had a lot of confidence.

After class, they learnt the proper manners and etiquette to eat a full course dinner.

They were nervous at first and took time to enjoy the delicious food.

On the second day, they went out to find different kinds of plants in the woods and walk around to solve a mystery like Sherlock Holmes in the luxurious facilities.
The students spent all day studying and teachers were concerned they might be tired after all the lessons, but many said, “I enjoy speaking English outside of GKA. My English makes many people understand me. It is great.”
They had confidence and spoke more than usual.
