A Typical Day in The Secondary School

Students in Grades 7 to 10 continue to follow Japan’s national curriculum, as in the primary years, while engaging in the International Baccalaureate’s Middle Years Programme (MYP). Many subjects are taught in English, and some classes, including Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies, are also conducted in Japanese.

In Grades 11 and 12, students study under the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP), with all subjects taught in English, except Japanese.

Grades 7 to 10 have six class periods on Mondays and Thursdays and seven on other days. Grades 11 and 12 attend seven periods each day. Students are assigned to homerooms and move between classrooms for different subjects, with specialized teachers guiding each class. Every student is provided with a common planner to record their schedules, assignments, study plans, and reflections, fostering self-management and the ability to learn from their experiences.

Student council and committee activities are vibrant, with students taking a proactive role in organizing various school events. Many students participate in clubs or interest groups after school, excelling in both athletic leagues and cultural activities. Each student dedicates themselves to their practice or activity, enjoying meaningful time with friends. The library is open from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. (until 6:00 p.m. for JJunior High school students), where students can be seen engaged in focused, independent study.
